Vietnam People’s Navy, Royal Canadian Navy promote cooperation
PANO – On attending the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Australian Navy, on March 23 in Sydney, Australia, Rear Admiral Nguyen Dinh Hung, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy, held a bilateral meeting with Vice Admiral Angus Topshee, Commander of the Royal Canadian Navy.
At the meeting, Rear Admiral Nguyen Dinh Hung conveyed greetings and best wishes from Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem, Commander of the Vietnam People's Navy, to Vice Admiral Angus Topshee.

Reviewing recent cooperation, Rear Admiral Nguyen Dinh Hung noted that defense ties in general, and naval cooperation in particular, between Vietnam and Canada have seen positive developments. He proposed that both sides enhance delegation exchanges at various levels to promote professional exchanges, share experience in naval operations, and explore areas of mutual strength and need. He also emphasized boosting cooperation in training and education. The Vietnam People’s Navy, he added, stands ready to welcome vessels of the Royal Canadian Navy to visit Vietnam in accordance with regulations of the Vietnamese Government and Ministry of National Defense.

Vice Admiral Angus Topshee expressed his impression of Vietnam and its people from previous visits and agreed with the proposals, affirming that bilateral naval cooperation should continue to develop in a more practical and effective manner.
Earlier, on March 22, the Fleet Commanders’ Conference themed “Sea Power and Internal Prosperity” took place at the Australian National Maritime Museum, with delegates from 35 countries in attendance.

Senior Captain Nguyen Minh Lanh, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 4 of the Vietnam People's Navy, participated in the event as head of the Vietnamese delegation aboard Ship 016-Quang Trung, which is docked in Sydney Bay for the International Fleet Review marking the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Australian Navy and the multilateral naval exercise Kakadu 2026.
