During the event, both sides reviewed the bilateral defense ties over the past years, and mapped out orientations and measures to further promote the bilateral defense cooperation in a practical and effective manner in the time to come.

General Chien affirmed that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology and training, have been increasingly promoted. On the basis of the sound relations between the two countries, the bilateral defense cooperation relationship has been promoted, especially in the defense policy dialogue mechanism, research, training, defense technology, delegation exchange, cyber security, search and rescue, among others.
Regarding cooperation orientation in the coming time, the Vietnamese defense leader proposed that both sides should enhance high-ranking delegation exchange, promote cooperation in defense industry, training, overcoming war consequences; while regularly exchanging information between the two militaries.

On this occasion, they also discussed international and regional security situation and shared their mutual concerns. General Chien noted that maritime security and safety issues, and sovereignty and territorial disputes have been posing challenges to peace, security, stability, development cooperation in the region and the world.
With its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, development, multilateralization and diversification of relations, Vietnam always hopes that countries will resolve conflicts and differences by peaceful means on the basis of respect to international law and basic principles of the U.N. Charter, significantly contributing to peace, stability and cooperation in each region and across the world.

Mentioning East Sea (internationally South China Sea)-related issues, the Vietnamese defense minister affirmed that Vietnam abides by international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982 and settling disputes by peaceful means.
For his part, Major General Amir Eshel expressed his delight at his visit to Vietnam, adding that this is an occasion for him to understand more about the country as well as its history of the cause of national liberation and reunification. He believed that the dialogue would promote trust building between the two sides, and create an opportunity to promote cooperation in many other fields, contributing to heightening their partnership.
Earlier, the Israeli delegation laid a wreath at Bac Son Heroic Martyrs’ Monument and President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum.
