Russian naval ships start Vietnam visit
PANO - A group of three ships under the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet, headed by Commander Alexey Ulyanenko and with 560 officers and crew-members on board, on April 27 docked at Cam Ranh International Port, Khanh Hoa province, starting their five-day friendly visit to Vietnam.
The group of Russian naval ships includes Slava-class guided-missile cruiser Varyag, medium-sized sea tanker Pechenga and rescue tugboat Fotiy Krylov.

Welcoming the Russian guests at the port were officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 4 Command, led by Senior Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Liem, Deputy Director of the Command’s Staff Department, and representatives from the Khanh Hoa provincial Department of External Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense (MND)’s Office, the MND’s Department of Foreign Relations, the provincial Military Command and Tan Cang-Petro Cam Ranh Limited Company.
During their stay in Vietnam, the Russian guests will pay courtesy calls to leaders of the Naval Region 4 Command and the provincial People’s Committee, visit landscapes in Nha Trang city and join exchange activities with the Naval Region 4 Command’s troops.
The visit aims to foster the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in general and the defense cooperation ties between the two navies in particular.
