Australia is currently one of Viet Nam’s largest partners in English-language training cooperation for officers of the Viet Nam People’s Army. This training course consists of two modules: training for instructor trainers and training for new instructors.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Nguyen Duy Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Relations, emphasized that the Viet Nam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is developing positively across various fields. In terms of defense cooperation, the two MNDs have established a sustainable and effective cooperation program suited to the needs and capabilities of each side. The program has become a highlight of bilateral relations and contributes to peace and stability in the region and the world. Training cooperation, in particular, has always served as a solid foundation for Viet Nam-Australia defense cooperation.

This is the fifth time the refresher course has been held in Viet Nam. With numerous changes and updates to the program, the course is expected to further improve the quality of English teaching at military academies and schools in Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia, Mongolia and Thailand. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for instructors from participating countries to share experience and strengthen mutual understanding and trust.
Colonel Alana Burkitt, Australian Defense Attaché to Viet Nam, said this year’s course brings together more than 30 trainees from five different countries, making it the most diverse group of participants to date. The course is taught by a team of outstanding language experts from the Australian International Defense Training Center.
