Refresher course on local military and defense work for Lao military officers concluded
PANO - On August 7, at the Military School of Military Region 4, the General Staff (GS) of the Viet Nam People’s Army held a ceremony to wrap up the refresher course on local military and defense work for officers of the Lao People’s Army. GS’s Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc chaired the ceremony.
During the two-month course, the trainees studied general perspectives and theories, local defense and military tasks, and defense and security education. In addition, they observed a defensive area exercise in Dai Dong commune and toured several historical and cultural relic sites in Nghe An province. Through these studies and field trips, the trainees enhanced their knowledge and gained experience in local defense and military advisory work.

At the end of the course, 100% of the trainees completed the program with good or excellent outcomes. On this occasion, the GS awarded two collectives and eight individuals for their outstanding performance during the course.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc highly valued the trainees’ spirit of studying and training. He also commended the close coordination among units of the Ministry of National Defense, the GS, the General Department of Political Affairs, and Military Region 4 in preparing and organizing the course. The GS’s deputy chief also acknowledged and commended the efforts and responsibilities of the officers, instructors, and staff of the Military School of Military Region 4, contributing significantly to the course’s success.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Ba Luc requested that agencies and units of the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of National Defense continue to effectively implement the protocol on defense cooperation for the 2026-2030 period.

He urged both sides to boost delegation exchanges and cooperation in cadre training, and regularly update training programs in line with reality. He expressed his hope that upon returning home, the trainees would effectively apply their acquired knowledge and experience, helping build strong local armed forces and continuing to cultivate the special solidarity and traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Laos.
