Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang conveyed the greetings and best wishes for good health from Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang to General Tea Seiha. He also briefed the Cambodian general on the outcomes of the ninth Viet Nam-Cambodia Defense Policy Dialogue, during which the two sides reached agreement on a number of important issues.

General Tea Seiha expressed his belief that Viet Nam-Cambodia relations, with defense cooperation serving as an important pillar, would continue to be strengthened. He thanked the Party and State of Viet Nam for their continued support for Cambodia during the years of war, as well as throughout the country’s reconstruction and development. He also wished that the two sides would continue to promote the implementation of the agreed cooperation areas.
Earlier the same day, at the headquarters of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense in Phnom Penh, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang and General Khieu Chhen, Secretary of State of the Cambodian MND, co-chaired the ninth Viet Nam-Cambodia Defense Policy Dialogue.
During the dialogue, the two sides assessed that bilateral defense cooperation had received due attention and continued to expand, achieving practical results across various fields, including delegation exchanges; maintaining effective consultation, dialogue and exchange mechanisms; education and training; cooperation in the management and protection of land and maritime borders; the search and collection of the remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors; and coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and mechanisms, as well as events hosted by either side.
In the time to come, both sides will continue to coordinate in implementing agreed cooperation areas, focusing on exchanges of delegations at all levels, particularly high-level delegations; consultation and dialogue; education and training; cooperation in managing and protecting land and maritime borders; the search for and repatriation of the remains of fallen soldiers; cooperation in political and ideological education; and continued coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums and mechanisms and events hosted by either side.

On the occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang sincerely thanked the Cambodian Government and MND for their effective coordination and support in the search for, recovery and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who died in Cambodia. This has contributed to the implementation of the “500-day campaign to accelerate the Search, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs’ Remains” launched by the Vietnamese Government.
The Vietnamese general also respectfully invited leaders of the Cambodian MND and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to attend the third Viet Nam Defense Expo, scheduled to take place in Hanoi this December.
At the conclusion of the dialogue, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang and General Khieu Chhen signed the minutes of the event.
Earlier, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang and the Vietnamese delegation paid tribute and laid a wreath at the Viet Nam-Cambodia Friendship Monument.
