Addressing the event, Gen. Tan requested the officers to strictly adhere to the Party, State, and military’s guidelines on external affairs, follow the military discipline, U.N. regulations and the host country’s laws during task performance far from home.

Besides, they should also promote traditions of the military and the Vietnamese peacekeeping force, affirm their strong will and competence, thereby beautifying the image of the country, people, and military of Vietnam in the international arena. They should also ensure absolute safety during their task implementation in the host country.

The defense leader also asked the female peacekeepers to promote the traditions of heroic Vietnamese women, overcome difficulties and closely work with other members of the team to  promote solidarity when performing tasks in the host country.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (VNDPKO) should promptly ensure policies for military officers and their families in order for the peacekeepers to well accomplish their assigned tasks.

In the coming time, the VNDPKO will continue to ensure personnel work so as to make preparations for the following years.

So far, Vietnam has sent 789 peacekeepers to perform U.N. peacekeeping operations at three missions and U.N. Headquarters, including 782 military and seven public security officers.

On behalf of the four peacekeepers, Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hieu, who will act as a Training Officer, on behalf of the four officers, affirmed their readiness and high determination for the upcoming missions tasked by the U.N. and the Ministry of National Defense.
