Implementing the Party's foreign policy, Vietnam always stands ready to be a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community, showing the "Loving others as loving yourself" good traditions of the Vietnamese people, immediately after receiving the news of the earthquake in Myanmar, the Standing Board of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the MND pro-actively advised the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and the Prime Minister to deploy the VPA’s forces to provide humanitarian assistance and earthquake disaster relief for Myanmar.
On March 29, the MND directed the Department of Search and Rescue Operations to coordinate with the Department of Foreign Relations, the General Department of Logistics and Technical Services, the Engineering Corps, the Vietnam Border Guard Command and other functional units to develop a deployment plan involving 80 officers, including 30 medical staff, 30 engineering officers, nine military dog trainers and 6 service dogs, and 11 command staff, to Myanmar to assist with its earthquake recovery efforts.

The General Department of Logistics and Technical Services was tasked with preparing 40 tons of dry provisions and 30 tons of other goods to help the people of Myanmar, while collaborating with other agencies and units to ensure logistics and technical services for the deployed forces. The Department of Foreign Relations, the Air Defense-Air Force Service and civilian airlines, are responsible for preparing the means of transporting goods and equipment to Noi Bai International Airport and working with Myanmar's functional forces to implement the plan for transporting goods and deploying forces to the earthquake's center.

In his remarks, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong underlined that the deployment of forces to assist Myanmar’s earthquake relief efforts shows the foreign policy and a high sense of responsibility of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam towards the international community, affirming the VPA’s prestige, responsibility, and capability in international relations and cooperation.

He also required the deployed forces to stay united, maintain discipline, pro-actively overcome difficulties to accomplish their assigned missions. The forces should focus on managing relationships and coordinating with international forces, local authorities, and people, while promoting the good qualities of the Vietnam People's Army, leaving a positive impression on international friends and people of Myanmar.
