Speaking at the event, Sr. Lt. Gen. Tran Viet Khoa, Director of the National Defense Academy, congratulated Sr. Lt. Gen. Khamliang Outhakaysone on his appointment as Lao Defense Minister and expressed his delight at the Lao defense leader’s visit.

Gen. Khoa underlined that over the past time, the academy has effectively implemented assigned tasks, contributing to building senior military officer contingents and skilled military scientists; building strong armed forces; and constantly reinforcing defense and security, maintaining independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the country in the new era. He also hoped that in the time to come, Vietnam and Laos would conduct many activities to strengthen and consolidate trust and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, militaries, and people.

For his part, Sr. Lt. Gen. Khamliang Outhakaysone extended his congratulations to Vietnam on its 80th foundation anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th anniversary of the Whole-people Defense Festive Day, and the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024. He shared that this was his first overseas visit as Lao Defense Minister, showing the importance of developing a great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

The Lao defense leader emphasized that the National Defense Academy is the "cradle" for training high-quality human resources for both Vietnamese and Lao militaries. In the future, he hoped that more Lao military officers will be sent to study at the academy; believing that the cooperation between the two militaries will continue to grow stronger, contributing to deepening the special relations, friendship and solidarity between the two Parties, States, militaries and people.
