Indian military academy pledges to train Vietnamese young officers
PANO – The Academy of Military Technology of the Indian Army is willing to train Vietnamese young officers at the academy.
This statement was made by Lieutenant General Michael Mathews, the academy’s Director during a meeting with the Vietnamese delegation of young officers, led by Colonel Dinh Quoc Hung, Head of the Military Youth Board under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, on March 6.

At the meeting, the host recalled the India-Vietnam relationship as well as the construction and development of the academy over the past year. The academy’s Director affirmed that India and Vietnam share some similarities in history, traditional culture, and religion, and the bilateral relations have strongly developed over the past time. He said that in the coming time young officers of the two armies should develop joint practical activities, making contributions to deepening India-Vietnam bilateral defense cooperation and strengthening the India-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership set up by the two countries’ leaders.
The Vietnamese head delegate briefed the host on the situation of the Vietnamese young officers, affirming that they are potential and a key force to contribute to further strengthening Vietnamese military units. He hoped that the Indian academy would provide intensive training to Vietnamese young officers in the future.
