General Nghia emphasized that bilateral defense cooperation between Vietnam and the Philippines has been actively promoted in recent years, yielding many positive outcomes, notably in such areas as delegation exchanges, effective maintenance of consultation and dialogue mechanisms, service-to-service cooperation, maritime security and safety; personnel training, young officers exchange programs, and close coordination between the two armies within the framework of the ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM).

He noted that the official visit to the Philippines in August 2024 by General Phan Van Giang, Vietnamese Minister of National Defense, opened up new areas of cooperation.
To make cooperation between the Vietnamese and Philippine armies more practical and effective in the future, the GS's deputy chief proposed focusing on several key areas, including enhancing delegation exchanges at all levels, strengthening human resource training, expanding cooperation in potential areas in line with the realities of both armies, and engaging in close consultations and mutual support at ASEAN-led multilateral forums as well as international events hosted by each side.

He also affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense encourages the Philippine Army to continue sending officers for training in Vietnam, as well as delegations of instructors and cadets to visit and conduct field studies at educational establishments of the VPA.
For his part, Lt. Gen. Roy Mabagos Galido highly appreciated the talks and fully agreed with the proposals made by General Nghia. He expressed hope that the two armies would work together to effectively promote the agreed areas of cooperation, thereby contributing to deeper, more practical bilateral defense relations.
During the talks, the two sides also exchanged views on the regional and international situation and other issues of mutual concern. GS's Deputy Chief Nguyen Van Nghia affirmed Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of international relations. Vietnam is always ready to cooperate with other countries and international organizations for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
He also reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to the “Four No's” defense policy and its consistent stance on resolving disputes and differences by peaceful means, based on international law.
