PANO – General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister, on October 12th received visiting Air Chief Marshal Agus Supriatna, Indonesian Air Forces' Chief of Staff.
Welcoming the Indonesian general, General Do Ba Ty affirmed that his official visit to Vietnam would contribute to beefing up the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries’ people and armies.

The Vietnamese general applauded the outcomes of the working session between the Indonesian delegation with the Vietnam Air Defence and Air Force Service and underlined that they should continue fostering their defence cooperation, especially in delegation exchanges, education and training, information sharing and aircraft maintenance.
In turn, Air Chief Marshal Agus Supriatna pledged to do his utmost to boost the implementation of their signed agreements.
* The same day, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defence Minister, hosted a reception for Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to Vietnam Jun Dae Joo.
General Vinh stressed that Vietnam and the RoK have witnessed considerable achievements in their bilateral defence cooperation, contributing to the two sides’ increasing ties.

He thanked the RoK Government for supporting Vietnam to overcome the aftermath of bombs and mines left behind from the war in Vietnam and hoped they would continue promoting cooperation in the time to come.
For his part, Ambassador Jun Dae Joo was very pleased to see the development of bilateral relations between their countries in general and Defence Ministries in particular, and held that the RoK Government would enhance their assistance to Vietnam to deal with the war consequences.
* While receiving Assistant Secretary for International Security and Nonproliferation with the US State Department Thomas Countryman, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh voiced pleasure at the two countries’ relations development, including the bilateral defence field.
General Vinh said that the two sides should intensify their joint cooperation programs, such as high-level defence consultancy, surmounting post-war consequences, and information exchanges.
Mr. Thomas Countryman appreciated Vietnam’s contributions to the peace and stability in the region and the rest of the world and hoped to raise the aforementioned issues to a new height.
