Immediately after crossing the demarcation line at border marker No.476 at Cau Treo (Ha Tinh province, Vietnam) – Nam Phao (Bolikhamsai province, Laos) international border gates, the delegation received a warm welcome from Lt. Col. Khamphouvick Dalaphet and officers of the host unit.

Within the frame work of the exchange, both sides planted trees at Border Company 253. On the occasion, Sr. Col. Nguyen Quoc Hieu presented gifts from the Vietnam Border Guard Command to the host unit.

Speaking at the event, Lt. Col. Khamphouvick Dalaphet emphasized that June 1 each year is Laos’ National Tree Planting Day, aimed at creating a clean, green, and sustainable environment, contributing to the mitigation of global warming, prevention of soil erosion, protection against strong winds and storms, and maintenance of ecological balance. Therefore, the tree-planting activity carries profound significance in nurturing and strengthening the great friendship between Laos and Vietnam.

In his turn, Sr. Col. Nguyen Quoc Hieu stressed that these activities helped implement the cooperation agreements between the two border guard forces while enhancing mutual understanding and trust among the younger generation. Through such exchanges, young officers from both sides have opportunities to share practical experience in safeguarding territorial sovereignty and maintaining national border security in the new situation. The series of exchange activities also serves as vivid evidence of the close-knit, faithful, and enduring solidarity between the two militaries and people.

Participating in this edition of the exchange are 45 outstanding young officers, carefully selected from the Border Guard Commands of Ha Tinh, Dien Bien, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai provinces, as well as the Border Guard Academy and artists and performers from the Border Guard Art Troupe.
