At the event, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei reviewed the 99-year history of the Chinese PLA, affirming its commitment to global peace, stability, and development. Highlighting the traditional neighborliness between the two countries, the Chinese ambassador noted that the two militaries have stood shoulder-to-shoulder from the national liberation struggles to the current socialism building. Guided by the top leaders of both parties, the building of the Vietnam - China community with shared future is elevating bilateral relations to new heights.

Ambassador He Wei emphasized that defense and security cooperation remains a crucial pillar. This is evidenced by enhanced strategic trust, regular high-level exchanges, and the effective promotion of mechanisms such as the Border Defense Friendship Exchange and the Defense Security Dialogue, along with various joint training, exercises, and patrol activities.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau extended his best wishes to all generals, officers, and soldiers of the PLA on their 99th anniversary. He expressed his belief that the PLA will continue its robust growth ahead of its centenary in 2027.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau noted that bilateral relations and defense ties have continually reached new heights with significant and comprehensive milestones. The two defense ministries have effectively managed the shared borderline and conducted joint patrols in the Gulf of Tonkin, together with active cooperation in air force, U.N. peacekeeping, training, and defense industry.
The Vietnamese defense leader hoped that based on the common perception of senior leaders, the relationship between the two nations and their defense ministries, considered as “both comrades and brothers,” will experience breakthrough developments, contributing practically to regional and global peace, stability, and development.
