In a meeting with the Vietnamese delegation in Khammoune province, Colonel Sonpham Muangchan, Second-in-Command and Chief of Staff of the provincial Military Command, emphasized that this third edition left deep impressions on locals, fostering the special friendship between the two countries, which was built by Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane and Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh.
The Lao officer said that during the exchange activities in Khammoune province, the two countries’ young officers learned about the Lao People’s Army’s development, recalled the combat alliance between the two nations, and shared experience in border management and protection.

The four-day exchange, starting from August 21, featured a wide range of practical activities to foster the friendship and solidarity between the two border guard forces. These included talks, friendship tree planting, a visit to Laos - Vietnam Combat Alliance Museum, sport and cultural exchanges, visits to some cultural heritage sites in Laos, and more.
For his part, Col. Hai expressed thanks to Col. Sacksith Phichit, Deputy Director of the Border Guard Department of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army, Head of the Lao young border guard delegation, and Savannakhet and Khammoune provinces’ Military Commands for their great support and coordination during the exchange.

He stressed that the two young border guard forces would continue to promote sense of responsibility, youthfulness, and show high determination to preserve, consolidate, and strengthen the solidarity, friendship between the two countries and people in general and the two border guard forces in particular, contributing to each country’s national construction, defense, peace, and prosperous development.
