At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung informed the delegation of the political, diplomatic and socio-economic affairs of the host country, the living conditions of Vietnamese community in Thailand, and the embassy’s task performance over the past time.
Gen. Chien highly appreciated the embassy’s contributions to fostering the two countries’ relations. The defense leader expressed thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in general, the embassy in particular, especially the ambassador, for their attention and close coordination in strengthening the defense cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.

He emphasized that the bilateral defense ties have continuously been carried out in an active and effective manner, reaping outstanding outcomes in all-level delegation exchange, cooperation between services and corps, education and training, military medicine, border management and protection, prevention against transnational fraud and cross-border crimes, overcoming of consequences of unexploded ordnance left from the war. He also highlighted the two sides’ mutual support and collaboration at ASEAN-led multilateral forums and mechanisms.

The defense leader hoped for continued support and assistance from the embassy and the ambassador himself to accelerate the bilateral defense cooperation in a more intensive, effective and practical manner, thus strongly developing the two countries’ enhanced strategic partnership.
