At the meeting, Lieutenant General Vu Kim Ha, Deputy Director of the National Defense Academy, highlighted the longstanding traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Bangladesh, which has been strengthened and developed across various fields, including politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, and defense.

According to the general, Viet Nam always attaches great importance to traditional friendship with Bangladesh. In recent years, the two countries have maintained delegation exchanges at all levels and promoted cooperation among state agencies, governments, parliaments, and localities, while coordinating and supporting each other at regional and international forums.

Briefing the delegation on the foreign policy of Viet Nam, the general stated that Viet Nam consistently implements a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, alongside multilateralization and diversification of external relations. Viet Nam seeks to be a friend, a reliable partner, and an active and responsible member of the international community. The country respects the independence, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of all nations, adheres to the principle of non-interference in one another’s internal affairs, and advocates resolving disputes and differences through peaceful means in accordance with international law.

He also emphasized that Viet Nam pro-actively and actively contributes to the common efforts of regional organizations and the international community, particularly in information and experience sharing, combating transnational crime and terrorism, building a strong and prosperous ASEAN Community, and participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations.

During the meeting, the general also introduced Viet Nam’s National Defense Academy to the guests, highlighting its international cooperation in training. Over the past years, the academy has hosted hundreds of delegations of foreign defense officials and sent delegations of officers and instructors abroad to study, conduct research, and exchange experience. In addition, the academy has trained more than 1,000 senior officers from foreign militaries, contributing to the effective implementation of Viet Nam’s foreign policy.

To date, the academy has conducted six courses for defense officials from countries maintaining defense relations with Viet Nam, with Bangladesh having sent one officer to participate in 2019. The National Defense Academy stands ready to further promote exchanges, share experience, and expand cooperation with defense academies of other countries, including the National Defense College of Bangladesh.

Expressing delight at visiting the Viet Nam’s National Defense Academy, Rear Admiral Ziaur Rahman stated that the visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss issues of mutual concern in personnel training and development. He spoke highly of the positive achievements in bilateral friendship, emphasizing that exchanges between defense training institutions hold practical significance in enhancing mutual understanding and trust among staff, lecturers, and trainees.

He expressed hope that both sides will continue maintaining and expanding delegation exchanges, academic exchanges, and the sharing of training experience, thereby creating further opportunities for officers of both nations to learn from each other.
