Conference maps out AMNEX-2
PANO – The Vietnam People’s Navy held a meeting to draft out an initial plan for the second ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX-2), in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, on December 20.
Present at the event were representatives of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and Vietnam People’s Nay, delegates of the Lao People’s Army, and staff officers of navies of other ASEAN countries, among others.
The AMNEX-2 will be hosted by the Vietnam People’s Navy and scheduled for May 2020, following the success of the first exercise in 2017 in Thailand.

At the conference, Vietnamese naval representatives informed the delegates of the AMNEX-2’s draft agenda and plans for related events, as well as received recommendations from other navies on the AMNEX-2 and related events in 2020 when Vietnam takes over the ASEAN chairmanship .
After the host’s briefing, delegates from navies of ASEAN countries and Lao People’s Army discussed and contributed ideas to the draft plan for the AMNEX-2, helping Vietnam better prepare for the exercise and map out agendas for the coming conferences on planning the exercise.
On the sidelines of the conference, the delegates visited the Vietnamese Naval Academy, Cam Ranh International Port, and several socio-economic facilities in Nha Trang.
