Vietnamese frigate concludes mission with AMNEX-1
PANO - Frigate 012-Ly Thai To of the Vietnam People’s Navy arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Nov. 25, successfully concluding its half-month voyage to Thailand to join activities of the first ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX-1) and the International Fleet Review 2017 (IFR 2017).
During the mission to Thailand, the frigate and its Vietnamese naval officers joined official and ancillary activities held by the host country such as the international fleet review, the night festival of ASEAN cuisine culture, as well as the street parade. Notably, the Vietnamese naval vessel and personnel attended all activities of the AMNEX-1, including the maneuver in formation for aerial photo capture, mock maritime interception of illegal activities at sea, supply at sea, airborne supply, and naval information and communications management.

The Vietnamese frigate, together with four Malaysian and Filipino naval ships on their way home after, conducted a combined exercise of moving into a complex formation, coding and decoding common signals, practicing helicopter’ take-off and landing and delivering information by signal flags.
* On the same day, a squadron of two Malaysian naval ships, namely KD Lekiu and Gagah Samudera, commanded by Senior Colonel Mohd Fadzli Kamal bin Mohd, docked at Cat Lai Port, beginning a friendly visit to Ho Chi Minh City.

The Malaysian ships, with 27 officers and 226 sailors on board, are going to spend three days in the Vietnamese southern city. During their stay, the guests will pay courtesy visits to the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh Municipal People’s Committee, the Military Region 7 Command and the Naval Region 2 Command. In addition, they will join sports competitions with troops of Naval Region 2 and the Naval Technical School, and take part in tours of several tourist attractions in the city.
