PANO - A Canadian mission led by Foreign Minister Stéphane Dion on September 7 visited Military Hospital 175 of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam.

At the hospital, the mission learnt about the hospital’s treatment, military medicine and organization, training of personnel for the level two field hospital which is expected to be deployed at a future United Nations peacekeeping operation.

The hospital’s leadership also briefed the guest on its operations, and cooperation in preparing the level 2 field hospital as well as its latest achievements in treatment.

For his part, the Canadian Foreign Minister expressed his pleasure of visiting the hospital, which has a long tradition and has been implementing various projects on upgrading infrastructure and using advanced medical equipment to better care for troops’ and people’s health.

He also emphasized that, with a high sense of responsibility, he will try his utmost to bolster the two countries’ medical cooperation, especially in military medicine. He added that in the coming time, Military Hospital 175 could join exchanges between the two sides’ military medical forces during the visits of Canadian military ships to Ho Chi Minh City.

He also promised to support the host in well preparing and training personnel for its level 2 field hospital, so that they could well perform its tasks at United Nations peacekeeping missions as soon as possible.
