At the event, delegates recalled the establishment and development of Viettel Gia Lai. On October 15, 2002, Gia Lai Telecommunications Center (also known POP Gia Lai) under the Long-distance Call Center (the predecessor of Viettel Gia Lai) was established with only five members and several computers. The event marked the presence of a military telecom business in Gia Lai and opened way for the development of Viettel Gia Lai.
After two decades, Viettel Gia Lai now has 750 BTSs (base transceiver stations), ensuring signal connection in all communes, wards, and towns in Gia Lai province.
Viettel Gia Lai is also one of the pioneers in supporting Party committees, authorities, departments, and businesses in digital transformation, gradually helping the Central Highlands province build digital government, digital economy, and digital society. The unit has also allocated tens of billions of VND to conduct various social welfare programs, helping many policy families, poor households, children with congenital heart disease, and studious children in Gia Lai province overcome difficulties.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai provincial People's Committee Ho Phuoc Thanh acknowledged, praised, and congratulated Viettel Gia Lai on its great achievements over the past 20 years. He affirmed that Viettel Gia Lai has made great contribution to the socio-economic development of Gia Lai province.
In addition to earning annual revenue of nearly VND 1 trillion and creating jobs for hundreds of workers in the locality, Viettel Gia Lai has also paid special attention to ensuring communication for communes in remote and border areas. The unit has helped Party committees and authorities at all levels successfully implement the Party's guidelines and State’s policies and laws, develop socio-economy, and ensure national defense and security.

On the occasion, the Gia Lai provincial People’s Committee presented the “For Gia Lai province’s construction and defense cause” flag to Viettel Gia Lai and certificates of merit to its outstanding personnel. Viettel and the provincial Department of Information and Communications also honored Viettel Gia Lai’s collectives and individuals.
