The thematic program is an extracurricular activity aimed at arousing deep pride in national sea and island sovereignty. At the event, Colonel Nguyen Danh Quan (an officer of the Department of Information and Education, General Department of Political Affairs) shared the latest updates on Truong Sa following his working trip in January 2026.

Colonel Nguyen Danh Quan talking about Truong Sa |
Through his sharing, concepts like nautical miles and the hardships faced by naval officers and soldiers became much closer. The stories brought by Colonel Nguyen Danh Quan truly touched the hearts, transforming abstract knowledge of sovereignty into profound gratitude within each student.
Responding to the launch by Principal Nguyen Thi Thao, an enthusiastic atmosphere quickly spread across all grades. Notably, alongside traditional handwritten letters, students also had an opportunity to send “digital letters” via the internet.
As the initiator of the email platform, teacher Dinh Thi Ngoc (Quang Trung Primary School, Hoa Lu, Ninh Binh) shared that her greatest desire was to create a safe and swift “digital corridor” to help children overcome geographical and weather barriers. The combination of traditional handwritten letters and digitized messages both helps students practice technology skills and actualizes their patriotism through specific actions. The educator expressed her belief that when students’ greetings instantly appear on the computer screens of soldiers amidst the vast ocean, the strength of the rear will be multiplied.
Especially, the project also carries the mission of “bringing the sea to the mainland” for students in remote areas such as the Northwest, Central Highlands, or Dak Lak, where they mostly know about the ocean through books. Through these “digital letters,” highland students have the opportunity to authentically feel their homeland’s sea, thereby nurturing their patriotism in the most vivid way.

“The journey from the mainland to the great sea” is a meaningful activity. |
Student Nguyen Danh Trung (class 4A2) expressed his joy and found deep meaning in the activity. Trung said that in his letter, he asked about the health, diet, and rest of his father and other soldiers. Witnessing his father endure 23 resilient days and nights in Truong Sa in early 2026 further motivated him to study hard to become a brave soldier like his father in the future.
Representing the 5th graders, student Tran Van Anh emotionally stated that she had previously only known Truong Sa through books, but thanks to the realistic stories, the distance seemed to have narrowed. Through the letters, she wanted to send her most sincere thanks to the soldiers and promised to study well on the mainland to be worthy of their sacrifices and protection.
Although the event concluded, its echoes remained strong. The “wave-crossing letters” contained not only greetings but also the affection and trust of the capital’s young generation for the heroes guarding the peaceful sea and skies day and night.
Integrating sovereignty education into practical activities at Van Tien Dung Primary School affirmed an effective approach: Turning patriotism into a continuous flow, from the children’s handwriting to the resilience of officers and soldiers on the frontline.
