Vietnam MRCC’s medical staff checking the patient’s health conditions

Earlier, at 19:30 on July 6, Vietnam MRCC received the information that while sailing from China to Singapore in the waters about 30 nautical miles east of the coast of Nha Trang city (Khanh Hoa province), Chinese crew-member Liang Fengshan, born in 1987, had an occupational accident, with a finger of his left hand cut off.

Upon receiving mayday signals from the vessel, Vietnam MRCC kept regular contact and directly worked with the vessel to update the conditions and provide instructions on first aid for the troubled crew-member. However, the conditions got worse due to heavy bleeding, leading to shortness of breath and high fever. Therefore, Vietnam MRCC mobilized Ship SAR 273 on duty in Nha Trang city and medical staff to rush to the scene for a rescue mission.

Ship SAR 273 promptly approached the Chinese vessel and the center’s medical staff, together with Khanh Hoa border troops, gave medical examination to the patient. At 23:50 on the same day, the Chinese vessel docked at the port of Vietnam MRCC Region IV and took the patient to Khanh Hoa provincial General Hospital.
