Senior Colonel Tran Nguyen Lai, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region 4, and Nguyen Ba Quan, Director of Phu Quoc International Airport, co-chaired the conference.

At the conference, the two sides agreed on the principles, content, methods, and responsibilities for coordination. They also agreed to strengthen information sharing, maintain communications, and pro-actively respond to incidents and accidents, thereby contributing to aviation and maritime security and safety.

Under the agreement, upon receiving emergency information, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command will pro-actively evaluate the situation and deploy forces and equipment for maritime search and rescue operations. It will coordinate in identifying search areas, conducting rescue operations and first aid, transporting casualties, protecting incident sites, and ensuring security and safety in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, Phu Quoc International Airport will be responsible for activating its emergency response plan, coordinating forces, and promptly providing information and data to support search and rescue operations. The airport will also organize the reception and assistance of casualties and their family members within the scope of its functions and responsibilities.

Both sides will maintain forces and equipment in a state of readiness; conduct training and exercises; review operations and draw lessons; and update and supplement response plans as necessary.

The signing of the coordination agreement will help enhance joint operational capabilities and ensure timely and effective responses to potential aviation emergencies, incidents, and accidents in the relevant maritime areas. These efforts will contribute to aviation and maritime safety and protect the lives and property of the State and people.
