Speeches delivered at the workshop reaffirmed the key role of the Saigon-Gia Dinh commando force in the resistance war against American invaders, particularly in the Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968, and at the same time honored contributions of the local people to the victory of the resistance war. The Mau Than General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1968 included great feats-of-arm of the Saigon-Gia Dinh commando force, such as the attacks on the then Presidential Palace and now Independence Palace, the city’s Radio Station, and the US Embassy.

Addressing the workshop, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan stressed that the city’s authorities should hold more seminars about the Saigon-Gia Dinh commando force in the time to come, and asked the leadership at all levels to pay tribute to Saigon-Gia Dinh commandos and their families.
