During the visit to the Vietnam Friendship Village, General Vinh praised the achievements of the village’s personnel over the past time, and at the same time stressing that the Ministry of National Defense always collaborates with relevant agencies to give recommendations to the Party and State to issue appropriate policies to assist war veterans and their relatives. The defense ministry will continue to assist part of the village’s expenditure to help improve its personnel’s living conditions and take care of Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims, he added.

* The same day, another delegation of the Defense Ministry, headed by Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, visited Thuan Thanh Convalescent Center for Veterans in Bac Ninh province and Lang Giang Convalescent Center for Veterans in Bac Giang province.

During the visits, General Nghia inquired after wounded and sick soldiers and expressed appreciation for their contribution to the national construction and defense cause.

He hoped that the wounded and sick soldiers will continue to promote traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, keep good health, and become outstanding examples for their family members, contributing to the national construction and development cause.

On the occasion, General Nghia presented gifts of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, worth over VND 300 million in total, to wounded and sick soldiers of the two centers.

* Major General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), visited and presented gifts to former Deputy Directors of the GDP, including Head of the Central Party Committee's Commission for Information and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia and Lt. Gen. Phung Khac Dang.

In turn, Mr. Nghia and Lt. Gen. Dang expressed their delight at seeing positive outcomes of the military over the past time, hoping that the whole-military troops will continue promoting good traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and striving to fulfilling all assigned tasks.

* In Quang Binh province, the Artillery Corps just held a ceremony to inaugurate and hand over a house of gratitude to the family of Nguyen Thanh Hai, a policy family in Street 2, Ward 3, Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province.

The 80sq.m house was completed after three months of construction. The Artillery Corps donated VND 80 million to build the house.

* On July 18, the Defense Ministry, the Military Region 4 Command and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command handed over two houses of gratitude to policy families in Thanh Hoa province. Accordingly, the Defense Ministry sponsored VND 80 million to build a house for the family of Pham Van Uynh in Vinh Quang commune, Vinh Loc district, while Military Region 4 donated VND 80 million to help build a house for the family of Truong Hong Gai, a wounded soldier in Thieu Cong commune, Thieu Hoa district.
