USAID and War Remnants Museum enhance cooperation
PANO - On the afternoon of April 10th, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the War Remnants Museum signed a memorandum of understanding in Ho Chi Minh City to cooperate in the field of exhibitions on joint efforts to overcome the consequences of war.
The signing ceremony was attended by a U.S. Congress delegation led by Senator Jeff Merkley, who was on a working visit to Vietnam.
At the event, USAID Country Director for Vietnam Aler Grubbs and Director of the War Remnants Museum Tran Xuan Thao signed a memorandum of understanding.
Under the agreement, the two sides will collaborate to help the War Remnants Museum build a modern gallery that meets international standards with convenient accessibility features for visitors, while complying with international ethical codes in the field of museums.
The exhibits will focus on three main areas of cooperation between the two countries, namely overcoming the consequences of bombs and mines, environmental treatment, and supporting people with disabilities.
It is expected that USAID and the War Remnants Museum will open the gallery in 2025, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, the 50th anniversary of the end of the war in Vietnam, and the founding anniversary of the War Remnants Museum.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senator Jeff Merkley emphasized that the signing ceremony was an opportunity to reflect on the past and learn from it to continue building a brighter future and a better, more peaceful world together.
