Tram Phau was a clinic built in Hoai Nhon in 1971 to treat wounded soldiers of the Vietnamese liberation forces during the resistance war for national liberation in Vietnam.

On February 24-25, 1972, troops of the US military and the US-backed Government in South Vietnam conducted two raids on the site. They searched for underground hideouts, where medical workers and their patients were sheltering, and then dropped grenades inside.

As a result, 17 Vietnamese medical workers and injured soldiers of the liberation forces were killed. Only six others survived.

The recognition of the former clinic as a provincial historical site is the acknowledgement of the great sacrifice of heroic martyrs and at the same time reflects the wish to turn the site into an educational center to heighten local people’s patriotism.
