Thua Thien Hue begins new task of search and collection of martyrs’ remains in Laos
PANO – On October 23, Steering Committee 515 of Thua Thien Hue province held a ceremony to see off personnel of the provincial Military Command’s Search and Collection Team 192, who will perform the task of searching for and collecting remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer troops and advisors in Laos in the 2024-2025 dry season.
According to a decision of the Military Region 4 Command, in the 2024-2025 dry season, the Search and Collection Team 192 will conduct the mission in Salavan and Sekong provinces, Laos.
Ahead the mission, the province’s Steering Committee 515 and Military Command carefully held additional training for participating personnel, and well prepared technical and logistics supplies for the team.
Reportedly, the team grasped 10 information sources about possible locations of 13 martyrs’ remains.
In his speech, Phan Quy Phuong, Deputy Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue provincial People’s Committee underlined the significance of the task of search and collection of martyrs’ remains in Laos. He asked the team’s members to enhance their solidarity, overcome difficulties, effectively carry out mass mobilization and people-to-people diplomacy, and adapt to local cultures and customs to well complete assigned missions.

* On the same day, the Steering Committee 515 of Ho Chi Minh City held a ritual to collect and transfer a set of remains of martyr Nguyen Van Tuong (Dong Thanh commune, Hoc Mon district) to rebury at the district’s cemetery for martyrs according to local customs.
