Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan chairs the conference. |
Reporting at the conference, the Tuyen Quang provincial Military Command held that despite challenging terrain, harsh weather, and uneven UXO distribution, functional forces have strictly followed technical procedures, ensuring absolute safety and maintaining the project’s schedule.
Regarding the repatriation work, the forces have mobilized over 10,000 workdays, searched across 975 hectares, cleared more than 490 hectares of vegetation, and excavated over 10,000 cubic meters of earth. As a result, they found 27 graves and collected 42 sets of martyrs’ remains, of which two have been identified. DNA sampling has been comprehensively conducted at 10 war cemeteries, with 84 graves excavated and 58 samples collected, a nearly 70% success rate.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff highly valued efforts of local authorities, armed forces, and participating units in Tuyen Quang province.
The general emphasized that this is a highly crucial task reflecting the national tradition of gratitude, contributing to overcoming war-left consequences, and ensuring safety for socio-economic development. He requested units to continue grasping directives of higher levels, enhance coordination, accelerate progress, and ensure absolute safety.
