During the national liberation war, Dak Lak was considered a strategic area of the Central Highlands Front. Buon Ma Thuot city was chosen as the opener of the General Offensive and Uprising to totally liberate the South.
In order to achieve the glorious victory, many compatriots and soldiers throughout the country including officers and soldiers of Regiment 25 sacrificed their lives on the Dak Lak battlefield. During the war, 260 troops of the regiment laid down their lives while fighting the enemy in this area.
Since 2017, the provincial authorities have directed relevant units, in coordination with other organizations to excavate 106 tombs of unknown fallen soldiers in the area, and 34 of them were identified.
