At the reception in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province, Vo Hong Nam, General Vo Nguyen Giap’s son, expressed his delight at welcoming the Chinese delegation to Vietnam in the context Vietnam was celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The host emphasized the valuable support of the Party, State, People’s Liberation Army, and people of China to Vietnam during the resistance war for independence and freedom, especially during the struggles against the French colonialists and American imperialists.
Vo Hong Nam highlighted the close relationship between Chinese military advisors and President Ho Chi Minh, Truong Chinh, and General Vo Nguyen Giap. He said that since former generations had to work so hard to build the bilateral friendship, younger generations should continue to inherit, nurture, and develop the good relationship.

At the meeting, members of the delegation were moved when recalling memories of the former Chinese military advisors who were sent to Vietnam to support its struggle for national liberation. They affirmed the friendship between China and Vietnam, which was nurtured by Presidents Mao Zedong and Ho Chi Minh, is a common asset of the two nations. The relatives of the former advisors expressed their delight at Vietnam’s achievements in the revolutionary cause and renewal process and admiration for the sentiment of the Vietnamese towards the Chinese people. They also expressed the hope to welcome relatives of General Vo Nguyen Giap to China.
On the occasion, Vo Hong Nam presented the Vietnamese-Chinese bilingual edition of the book series, titled “Vo Nguyen Giap – The General of the People” to the Chinese delegates. This valuable publication vividly and truthfully depicts the humble yet noble portrait of General Vo Nguyen Giap and recalls significant events and important turning points in the life and revolutionary career of the “Big Brother” of the Vietnamese People's Army.

At the event, Chen Zhijin, a daughter of Chinese military advisor Chen Geng, also presented photos of her father and General Vo Nguyen Giap to the host and hoped that the gifts would contribute to affirming the fine relationship between Chinese military advisors and General Vo Nguyen Giap, the Vietnamese people, and the country.
