Military unit commemorates the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea
PANO – Brigade 125 of Naval Region 2 on October 23 held a get-together for its troops in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail at Sea and the founding day of the brigade (October 23).
During the event, delegates, officers and troops recalled the heroic traditions and achievements of the units over the past time. Accordingly, on October 23, 1961, the Ministry of National Defense decided to establish a military transportation team called Group 759 (now Brigade 125) with the mission of carrying soldiers and weapons to the southern battlefields. From 1961 to 1975, the unit mobilized nearly 1,000 vessels, carried over 28,000 soldiers along with 97,000 tons of weapons, expeditiously meeting the needs of the southern battlefields.
