PANO - Nearly 5,000 members of the Truong Son- Ho Chi Minh Trail Traditional Association on May 18th participated in a ceremony in Hanoi to mark the 55th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Trail and Traditional Day of Truong Son Soldiers (May 19th).
At the ceremony, delegates observed a minute of silence in commemoration of the late President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap and Truong Son heroic martyrs and together recalled their memories of the trail.
Since its establishment in May 2011, the Truong Son- Ho Chi Minh Traditional Association has developed its network in several cities and provinces across the country.
It has built 1,025 gratitude houses for needy former Truong Son soldiers and presented 342 scholarships to their children along with thousands of gifts.
The association organized visits to the old battlefield for thousands of members and supported over 9,000 Agent Orange victims, as well as searched for remains of fallen soldiers.
At the event, representatives of the Vietnam Television presented 66 gifts to war invalids and veterans who had fought in Truong Son front.
The same day, Truong Son-Ho Chi Minh trail traditional associations of provinces and cities nationwide organized get-togethers for their members.
