Martyrs’ remains found in Laos
PANO - During the 2024-2025 dry season, the Search and Collection Team of the Nghe An provincial Military Command has taken charge of the mission of searching for and collecting remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in the three provinces of Xiangkhouang, Xaysomboun, and Vientiane in Laos.

After nearly a month, the team successfully gathered nine sets of martyrs’ remains.
During the task implementation, the team faced many difficulties, including harsh weather conditions, rugged terrains, difficult travel and many remaining bombs and mines.
Thanks to the care and support of Steering Committees 515 at all levels, local authorities, the armed forces and people in Laos, the team overcame all difficulties and successfully accomplished assigned missions.
The nine sets of remains were discovered at depths of 0.8 to 1.5 meters, together with bones and teeth, there were other belongings such as buttons, belts, shoes, personal medical kits, scarves, lighters, canteens, rice bowls, and others.

The search and collection of martyrs’ remains is recognized as an important mission, showing the gratitude to heroic martyrs. Therefore, the team has been well aware of the significance of the task; strictly observed the directions of higher levels; heightened their responsibility and ensured safety in all aspects; and strived to achieve the highest results in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People’s Defense Festive Day.
