Earlier, construction workers had discovered signs of soldier remains and reported them to the authorities. After a four-day search, Team 584 found the four remains at a depth of about two meters, along with belongings including hammocks, military socks, ammunition magazines, infantry shovels, and toothbrushes. The remains are being preserved at the unit’s compound and awaiting DNA testing.

* On June 10, the captain of Team K72 under the Dong Nai municipal Military Command stated that the unit had just found four additional martyrs’ remains in Kratie province, Cambodia. Since their deployment on March 26, Team K72 has collected a total of 54 sets of remains.

Team K72 strives to overcome difficulties during the search for martyrs’ remains.

The team has effectively collaborated with Cambodian authorities and locals to survey suspected locations. The collected remains are kept in a columbarium awaiting repatriation. The unit is accelerating its operations to conclude this phase by June 30. In early days of June 2026, leaders of the National Steering Committee 515 and Military Region 7’s Steering Committee 515 visited and encouraged the team in Cambodia.

* On June 10, the specialized committee of Gia Lai province repatriated 18 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who died in Cambodia in wartime. The remains were collected by Team K52 under the Gia Lai provincial Military Command during the 2025-2026 dry season across Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, and Preah Vihear provinces.

At around 17:00 of the same day, a convoy transported the remains through the Le Thanh International Border Gate to the memorial house at the Duc Co Martyrs’ Cemetery, where they were solemnly received by local troops and residents. Gia Lai province will hold a requiem on June 12 and a memorial and burial ceremony on June 13.
