In Phu Tho province, the provincial Steering Committee 515 has recently organized the collection of samples from martyrs’ remains for DNA testing at war cemeteries in Hoang An commune.
A review found that Hoang An commune currently has 36 unidentified martyrs’ graves across three war cemeteries, including 34 graves at Hoang Dan war cemetery.
Recognizing this as a particularly important and sacred political task, local Party committees, authorities, and relevant agencies have pro-actively prepared all necessary conditions for biological sample collection.
Drawing lessons from previous operations, all stages, from organizational planning and sample collection procedures to preservation, transfer, and site restoration, were implemented in a synchronized manner.
Following a solemn ceremony, working teams rapidly carried out their assigned tasks in accordance with technical procedures, ensuring scientific rigor, efficiency, and absolute safety and security.
Meanwhile, the Steering Committee 515 of Quang Tri province collected samples, digitized information, and transferred martyrs’ remains samples at Ba Doc war cemetery. The cemetery houses 3,126 graves, of which 1,320 remain unidentified.
As planned, functional forces will collect biological samples from all 1,320 unidentified graves to support DNA analysis and the identification of fallen soldiers.
The Quang Ngai Provincial Steering Committee 515 has issued Plan No.102/KH-BCD concerning the excavation, search for, and collection of martyrs’ remains in the Truong Chinh Road area, covering Dak Cam ward and Kon Tum ward.
The excavation effort will continue through the end of 2026 and will be conducted in three phases. The provincial Military Command is responsible for monitoring, directing, and overseeing all survey, excavation, search, and recovery activities at the site.
Relevant agencies will establish a field command group and specialized teams related to techniques, inventory and documentation, information dissemination, logistics and technical support, site security, and others.
