Besides, the border troops also take care of children in the framework of the program "Adopted children of border posts," as well as needy students before they go back to school.

Teachers and students’ fulcrum in border areas

Due to harsh traffic and terrain conditions, many schools in the Nghe An province have downgraded facilities, causing difficulties to teachers and students before a new academic year. Therefore, the education and training sectors in remote areas, such as Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Que Phong districts, requested their teachers to come back to school earlier.

Over the past time, along with implementing political tasks, the border troops have also cared for the local education and training sectors. Many border posts are stationed in border areas and have become a firm fulcrum among border teachers and students.

In addition to mobilizing all resources, the border troops also visited each house to encourage students to return to school after summer vacation and the lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. Meanwhile, the medical team of the unit regularly works with schools to observe students’ health.

Last summer, the Nhon Mai Border Post under the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command mobilized troops to build fences, gates, and playgrounds for teachers and students at Pieng Cooc village’s school and a kindergarten in Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district, worth totally more than VND 60 million. Besides, the unit also called on sponsors to drill six wells, meeting the demands of teachers and students at six schools in the communes.

According to Thai Luong Thien, Head of the Education and Training Division of Tuong Duong district, in inadequate traffic and facility conditions, many teachers overcame difficulties to perform their missions thanks to the practical support of border troops stationed in the province.

Bringing a joyful atmosphere to students first day back to school

Before the opening ceremony of the new academic year 2023-2024, the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command was ready to help adopted children and students return to school. Implementing the "Paving the way to school for children - Adopted children of border posts" program, the unit has so far taken care of 246 needy students in border areas, including 16 Lao students.

Especially, the Border Post of Nam Can International Border Gate has pioneered in assisting poor students in their study. The unit is currently caring for 36 students.

Head of the Border Post of Nam Can International Border Gate Colonel Nguyen Hong Duc held that Lau Ba Trinh is one of such students. The border unit received Trinh to take care of him since he was in grade 2. Now he is a grade-7 student. Prior to the opening ceremony of the new academic year 2023-2024, the border troops helped Trinh make thorough preparation for his study. He felt happy to be carefully taken care of by the "border fathers."
