In particular, the vessel coded QB 11064 TS, owned and captained by Nguyen Tien Hoang, aged 53, from Dong Hoi ward, Quang Tri province, departed on March 8 afternoon for drift-net fishing. On March 9 morning, while returning to the Nhat Le estuary, it was struck by strong waves that caused it to capsize and partially sink.

At the time of the accident, four crew-members were promptly rescued by a nearby fishing boat, while captain Hoang remained clinging to the vessel. Upon receiving the information, Nhat Le Border Station quickly deployed personnel and vehicles to the scene, rescuing Hoang and bringing him safely ashore. The unit also mobilized local fishing boats to tow the troubled vessel to safety.
* On the same day, vessel SAR 273 of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center supported trawler QNg 95157 TS in distress at sea.
Earlier on March 3, the trawler owned by Bui Hau from Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province and captained by Bui Minh Long, aged 36, departed from Binh Thanh Border Control Station to fish for squid, carrying 34 crew-members. On March 5 evening, while operating offshore, the trawler suffered an engine failure. Despite the crew’s efforts to fix the problem, the vessel was left drifting approximately 90 nautical miles east of Phu Lac fishing port.
* Also on March 9, another fishing boat, QNg 90459 TS, carrying 36 crew-members and captained by Ngo Van Can, aged 53, from Binh Son commune, issued a request for assistance after experiencing engine trouble.
The vessel departed for squid fishing on February 27. On March 9, its engine malfunctioned and could not be repaired, forcing it to drift about 29 nautical miles northeast of Dai Lanh cape. The captain contacted his family to report the situation, prompting authorities to notify relevant agencies.
A representative of the Quang Ngai provincial Border Guard Command received the information and said that the unit is coordinating with functional forces to provide support.
