Staff Sergeant Kpa Thiep sacrifices his life to save two civilians

Kpa Thiep was a soldier of the Guard Platoon under the Staff of Regiment 28, Division 10, Army Corps 34.

At around 12:00 p.m. on July 20, while returning home in Tai Per village from the fields, Kpa Thiep came across two local residents who were in life-threatening danger due to an electrical accident. Without hesitation, he rushed in to rescue them with exceptional courage despite the grave risk to his own life. Thanks to his decisive and selfless actions, the two victims, Ro Mah Viet, born in 1999, and Rah Lan H'Nom, born in 1996, were successfully rescued and are now in stable health condition.

Kpa Thiep posthumously promoted from Corporal to Staff Sergeant

While fighting to save the lives of others, Kpa Thiep was himself electrocuted and collapsed at the scene. Although being hospitalized for emergency treatment, he succumbed to his injuries.

His passing is a tremendous loss to his family, loved ones, unit and comrades. He died at a very young age, leaving behind his wife and two young children.

Kpa Thiep's selfless act in rescuing civilians exemplified the noble values of a revolutionary soldier. At a life-or-death moment, he chose to protect the lives of others, willingly putting himself in a dangerous position. His sacrifice once again demonstrated that wherever they are and under any circumstances, soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army stand ready to risk their own lives to safeguard the people. His example embodies the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and serves as an inspiration for officers and soldiers to continue striving, training, and dedicating themselves to the nation.

Kpa Thiep's courageous action was recognized by local Party committees and authorities, who have recommended official commendations for him. Division 10 posthumously promoted him from Corporal to Staff Sergeant and proposed higher-level commendations. On July 22, the division raised nearly VND 150 million among its officers and soldiers to support Staff Sergeant Kpa Thiep's family.
