Coast guard ship saves fisherman in distress at sea

Ship CSB 9001 approaches the trawler with the injured fisherman.

In particular, on the morning of the same day, while conducting patrol and law enforcement in the waters of Truong Sa (Khanh Hoa province), the task force of Ship CSB 9001 received a request for medical assistance from fishing trawler BTh 97382TS. The injured fisherman was identified as Ngo Van Quyen (born in 1987, from Phu Quy special zone, Lam Dong province).

Following an initial examination, the ship’s medical personnel determined that the patient was suffering from a severe abscess in the left lower leg. The wound had developed a serious infection, causing intense pain and leaving him unable to walk or carry out work on board.

Assessing that the condition was worsening, the task force quickly transferred the fisherman to Ship CSB 9001 for more advanced medical treatment. After more than an hour, military medics conducted thorough cleaning, fully treated the abscess, disinfected, and dressed the wound.
