Resolutely fight against crime

During the high-level campaign on prevention and control of crime and trade fraud before, during, and after the lunar New Year of the Snake 2025, affiliated agencies and units of the command excellently completed their tasks, handling many cases of violation of maritime law. Two of the cases were BTr-7570 vessel transporting more than 350 cubic meters of sand and TG 90367 TS trawler containing some 50,000 liters of diesel oil without any legal documents on the origin of the goods.

During that campaign, the coast guard force of Region 3 conducted patrols, inspected operating vessels, made administrative penalty records for 37 ships, jointly detected and handled 10 cases of transporting illegal sand and diesel oil, and coordinated with other forces to smash eight cases of illegal possession of drugs.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Duc Hieu, Second-in-Command in charge of Law of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, said that the unit is assigned to manage a large sea area, while methods of criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated and different from those on land. However, in the spirit of resolute and uncompromising struggle, the unit has increased patrol and inspection forces, combined professional measures, and teamed up with the public security, border guard, and customs forces to strictly inspect key and border areas, preventing all types of crime and violation, and contributing to maintaining peace in the designated waters.

Promoting law dissemination and support for fishermen

Acknowledging the important role of the law dissemination work in defending national sovereignty, preventing crimes, and fostering love for the national sea and islands, the Party Committee and Chain-of-Command of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command have intensified law dissemination programs in a more effective manner. The contest “I love national sea and island” is among the most effective models.

Recently, the command cooperated with the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information and Education and Mass Mobilization to launch the contest, drawing the participation of thousands of teachers and secondary students. During which participants learned about national sea and islands, the Vietnam People’s Army, the Vietnam coast guard force, Vietnam’s regulations, and international treaties on sea and islands, among others. The contest importantly raised participants’ responsibility for protecting the nation’s maritime sovereignty, maintaining security and order in localities, and nurturing patriotism and love for national sea, islands.

Colonel Bui Vinh Tran, Chief of the Division of Political Affairs of the Command, said that each coast guard officer and soldier is fully equipped with legal knowledge to act as an orator. They have strictly observed the Day of Law, the Day of Politics and Spiritual Culture, brought into play the model “Handbook on Vietnam Coast Guard Law” coupled with the rule “A legal provision a day,” and the operation of “Bookshelf of law.”

According to Senior Captain Tran Huu Ngoc, who is at the helm of Coast Guard Ship 8005 of Flotilla 32, while performing tasks, they often disseminate legal information to fishermen and guide them on how to deal with situations at sea. Thus, each coast guard has to thoroughly grasp law, set an example in law enforcement, and improve dissemination skills.

The region 3’s coast guard force has also been active in accompanying fishermen. They have launched various significant activities, such as Tet on islands, the Zero VND market, and sponsoring fishermen’s children. These activities, as head of the Commission for Information and Education and Mass Mobilization of Ben Tre province’s Party Committee Bui Van Bia put it, helped consolidate the troops-people solidarity, strengthen fishermen’s trust in the coast guard force, and inspire fishermen to reach out to the sea and engage in protecting national maritime sovereignty.

Senior Colonel Le Van Tu, Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, emphasized that the command will continue to renovate mass mobilization forms and contents, coordinate with local party committees, authorities, and people to carry out practical deeds, firmly building the people’s heart disposition, spreading noble images of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and coast guards.
