Quang Ninh’s border guards rescue 20 people in distress at sea
PANO - Quang Duc Border Post of the Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard Command has sent ten officers and soldiers, together with two boats to conduct a search and rescue mission in Dam Ha commune, Quang Ninh province.
According to the Search and Rescue Division of the Border Guard Command, at around 6 p.m. on August 17, the mussel farming raft owned by Nguyen Quang Minh, a resident of Quang Minh 3 hamlet, Quang Ha commune, carrying 16 workers, capsized in the waters off Dam Ha commune.

Having been reported on the incident, the Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard Command immediately directed Quang Duc Border Post to deploy officers and soldiers along with vehicles to the scene. The rescue team saved 15 people, while two others were reported missing. By the morning of August 18, the forces had recovered the bodies of the two missing victims.
Quang Duc Border Post provided medical assistance to the survivors and, in coordination with local authorities, handed over the bodies of the deceased to their families for burial. Initial investigations indicated that the capsizing was caused by a sudden squall.
Also on the evening of August 17, local residents reported that five aquaculture workers were in distress at Hon My, Quang Ha commune, after the storm. Quang Dien Border Checkpoint under the Quang Ninh provincial Border Guard Command, deployed officers and soldiers to work with local residents in search and rescue operations. By 7:15 p.m. the same day, all five people were safely brought ashore in stable conditions.
