Early in the morning, as the sun rose over the western mountain range, the rice paddies in Quan Village were already filled with laughter, cheerful voices, and sounds of clanking sickles.

Unlike ordinary days, the fields were full of not only local farmers, but also militia personnel and Youth Union members.

Vi Van Lam, a resident of Quan Village, shared, “If we don’t finish in time, the storm could wipe everything out. Thanks to the help of the militia and youth forces, my worries have eased.” His eyes sparkled with gratitude as he watched bundles of rice being carried to his yard for drying.

Out in the fields, militiamen held sickles in their hands, their shirts drenched in sweat. Among them were Youth Union members, some gathering the harvested rice, others carrying it to designated yards. By the end of the morning, dozens of rice field sections of disadvantaged and lonely households had been neatly harvested.

Specifically, many paddy fields lie deep on the far side of the stream, which requires villagers to wade through rising waters to transport the harvest home. Undeterred, militia personnel and Youth Union members carried bundles of rice across waist-deep, fast-flowing water, holding tightly to one another for balance.

Head of the Military Command of Chau Loc commune Chu Viet Hau stated that the unit had pro-actively listed households lacking sufficient manpower, especially policy beneficiaries and single-member families, to mobilize forces for timely support. This effort was not merely about saving the rice and securing residents’ livelihoods, but also helping local residents feel secure ahead of the approaching storm.

It is reported that dozens of households in Quan village have not yet harvested their summer-autumn rice. The unit’s troops, in collaboration with Youth Union members, have organized multiple teams to assist directly in the fields, with plans to complete the entire remaining area within two days.
