Mr. Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister, co-chaired the event.
According to the report delivered at the conference, over the past five years, the coordination between the two ministries has gained significant achievements.
Both sides have efficiently used and allocated land funds for the purpose of national defense or security in accordance with the provisions of the law. The coordination regulations have contributed to the effective implementation of national defense strategy, the plan on ensuring the needs of land funds for the purpose of defense and security and created favorable conditions for activities combining national defense and security with socio-economy.
Speaking at the event, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong highlighted the growth of the cooperation between the two ministries and praised the great efforts of units and agencies in task performance over the past five years.
The Chief of the General Staff also sent his thanks to MONRE’s leaders, functional agencies and units for supporting the MND in accomplishing assigned missions.
Regarding the plan for coordination in the 2022-2027 period, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong required functional agencies and units to boost cooperation and draw up concrete plans to fulfill their tasks.
In addition, they should manage and use land for the purpose of national defense in an effective manner, contributing to national socio-economic development, environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
The agencies and units should work together to settle the consequences of post-war unexploded ordnance and toxic chemicals.
At the conference, leaders of the two ministries presented certificates of merit to outstanding collectives and individuals.
