Military Region 9 begins construction of 144 houses in An Giang and Ca Mau
PANO - On October 7, Defense-Economic Unit 925 of Military Region 9 (MR9), in coordination with the People’s Committee of Kien Hai Special Zone in An Giang Province, the Ca Mau Provincial Military Command, and the People’s Committee of Da Bac commune, held a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of 144 houses for poor and near-poor families and national contributors in Da Bac commune and Kien Hai Special Zone.

According to the organizing panel, of the total, 124 houses, each valued at VND 66 million, will be built in Da Bac commune, with a total cost of over VND 8.2 billion. The remaining 20 houses will be built in Kien Hai Special Zone, each worth VND 132 million, with a total cost of over VND 2.6 billion, taken from the state budget.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Commander of Military Region 9 Major General Nguyen Minh Trieu emphasized that these houses represent a firm milestone in strengthening the “people’s heart posture,” maintaining political stability and social order and contributing to the firm protection of the nation’s sacred sovereignty over sea and islands.
He added that the construction of 144 houses reflects the close cooperation between Military Region 9 and local authorities, demonstrating the strong political resolve of the armed forces of Military Region 9 in caring for the people’s well-being, especially for policy beneficiaries and those in difficult circumstances. It also serves as a vivid testament to the spirit of solidarity, mutual support, and the enduring bond between the military and the people.

To ensure the project is implemented on schedule, with quality, safety, and efficiency, General Trieu requested Defense-Economic Unit 925 to uphold its sense of responsibility and management capability to strictly supervise the construction in compliance with regulations and design standards. He stressed the importance of adhering to technical procedures and ensuring labor safety under the guiding principle of “quality, progress, and efficiency,” striving to complete and hand over the houses to residents at the earliest possible time.
