Hai Phong border guards bring spring to coastal people

At the event, Cat Hai Border Post and the district’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee handed over 40 gifts, 40 national flags to local policy beneficiary families, disadvantaged families and students of the program “Paving the way to schools for students.”

Within the program, there were an art exchange, folk games, and free health check-up and medicine provision for local people. In addition, a banh chung (square glutinous rice cake) making contest was held with the participation of the officers and soldiers from the post and Cat Hai townlet’s Youth Union Organization’s cadres and members. The cakes were then presented to needy families in the sea border district of Cat Hai.

Talking about the program, Senior Colonel Kieu Manh Hiep, Deputy Political Commissar of the Hai Phong municipal Border Guard Command, said that this meaningful and deeply humane program was a practical activity in response to the emulation movement “Whole nation joins hands for the poor – Leaving no one behind” and in actualizing the guideline and policy on social security of the Party, State, Ministry of National Defense, Vietnam Border Guard Command, and municipal Party Committee and People’s Committee.

As planned, in the upcoming lunar New Year (Tet) festival, the municipal Border Guard Command and its affiliates will carry out this program to present nearly 400 gifts, totally worth over VND 260 million, 750 kilograms of rice, and 200 national flags to local policy beneficiaries, families with hard living conditions in a hope to bring a warm Tet to them.
