At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Do Can handed over the gifts of the Ministry of National Defense to delegates and inquired after their health. The GDP’s deputy chief took the occasion to brief national contributors from Hau Giang province on military activities over the past time, especially the implementation of policies for troops and their families and gratitude work.

According to the GDP’s leader, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27), the whole military launched the “when drinking water, remember its source, paying gratitude to national contributors” emulation movement. Defense agencies and military units provided financial assistance to the construction of 1,769 gratitude houses, presented 806 savings books to policy beneficiaries and national contributors, and provided free health check-ups, consultation, and medicines for over 13,000 people.

Units in the whole military sewed silk ensembles and gave gifts to 1,489 heroic Vietnamese mothers who are being cared for by military units and provided medical equipment for five convalescent centers for those who had rendered good service to the nation.

The GDP’s deputy chief emphasized that those deeds of troops in the whole military have contributed to the efforts of the whole Party and people in raising the spiritual and material life for policy beneficiaries and national contributors. The activities have helped educate troops, especially young ones, about the gratitude tradition of the Vietnamese people.

National contributors from Hau Giang province receive gifts

The southern province of Hau Giang province has more than 12,000 martyrs, 5,700 wounded soldiers, and 2,027 heroic Vietnamese mothers, of whom 57 still live.

At present, the province is providing monthly allowance for more than 6,500 national contributors and fallen soldiers’ relatives with a total expense of over VND 12 billion/month.
