Ben Tre is an important land in terms of defense, security, and socio-economic development. In the past, the armed forces and people of Ben Tre, under the Party leadership, stayed united, promoted patriotic traditions, joined hands with people nationwide to contribute to the national salvation and reunification cause.

In recent years, bringing into play the revolutionary tradition, the provincial Party Committee, authorities, soldiers and people have surmounted difficulties, exerted all-out efforts, been creative and dynamic to achieve important outcomes, especially in realizing polices for national contributors.
Addressing the meeting, General Gau expressed a token of gratitude to the provincial Party Committee, authorities, and people for their support for troops during combat against foreign invaders, and in current military building.
He also informed the guest of the military’s prominent activities and stressed that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have actively and proactively advised the Party and the State to issue and implement new policies related to the military and troops’ families, national contributors and directed the effective implementation of the gratitude-paying movement.

According to Gen. Gau, since 2013, the military has built 6,838 gratitude houses, presented 5,609 savings books, taken care of 1,879 heroic Vietnamese mothers. This year alone, the whole military has built 1,769 gratitude houses, presented 505 savings books for policy beneficiaries and national contributors, provided free health check-ups and medicines for over 12,000 people, embellished facilities dedicated to martyrs. In addition, many delegations from the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense have laid wreath and paid tribute to fallen soldiers at 16 war cemeteries, and martyrs’ monuments nationwide. Defense agencies and military units have lit candles at war cemeteries in the areas where they are stationed.
At the event, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, Gen. Gau presented gifts from the Ministry of National Defense to Ben Tre national contributors.
