Young officers from border posts and military units in the locality have participated in a number of practical activities, including building civil projects for people, thereby contributing to tightening the close relationship between the military and civilians.

Affirming the youth’s role

Due to many different causes, a large number of people living in border and maritime border areas of Nghe An province are facing many difficulties in their lives. In addition, rural roads and civil projects in residential areas in the border areas are degraded. These factors have exerted negative effects on the local socio-economic development and the quality of life of local people.

Knowing about the situation, Nghe An border troops have carried out many programs and models to help local people promote economic development and eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. Troops have set aside a small amount of their salaries and build funds to support local authorities to build civil projects, houses and livelihood models for the locals.

According to Senior Colonel Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Political Commissar of the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command, young officers and soldiers from military units and border posts have been the vanguard force in performing political tasks, including patrols along the border, crime prevention and combat, and natural disaster response.

Making contribution to changing border areas

Over the past years, Nghe An border youths have maintained models, including “Voluntary Saturday,” “Green Sunday,” “Let’s clean up the sea,” etc., and joined activities to build and repair civil projects and rural roads for local people.

Senior Captain Tran Minh Hieu from the Department of Political Affairs under the Nghe An provincial Border Guard Command shared that Youth Union organizations of border posts and units have regularly organized practical activities for people, contributing to eradicating hunger and reducing poverty and changing the face of border areas.

The projects implemented by the unit and other benefactors have contributed to deepening military-civilian solidarity and mobilizing people to join hands with the border guard force in border protection.
